Day 141: Garlic Knots

Original Source:  Parent Guide News

Bread and butter baby! What's not to love? Those these days, I skip the butter and use Earth Balance. Regardless, these were really good. If I could find a way to cram more garlic in them, I totally would. That would be the only change I make next time.

Quick and easy!

Day 86: Braided Spaghetti Bread

Original Source: Rhodes Bread

I'm not a big spaghetti fan, mostly because I don't like the sauce, but when I have to eat it, my favorite thing is to plop a pile on a piece of bread and go at it sandwich style. So yeah, this recipe appealed to me! (And next time, I might make a little one just for me, sans tomato sauce with a bit of garlic and oil instead.. maybe some black olives...)

This was a very simple recipe to do. However, Rhodes bread isn't something I have here, and my grocery store was out of all frozen loaves of pre-made bread dough! So I used two cans of Pilsbury French loaves instead. Rolled them together, and got a nice, big piece of bread to braid.

yes, not a perfect rectangle, but hey, tasted fine!

According to my daughter, we MUST have spaghetti this way from now on. I guess that means it's a keeper!

Day 84: Boston Market Cornbread

Original Source: The Sisters Dish

My Teen Boy loves cornbread. LOVES. So of course, I had to try this one for him. And it includes cake? Yeah, I'm going there. The recipe has two different versions and since I've never seen Jiffy Mix cake mix, I opted for the 2 boxes Jiffy mix, 1 box reg yellow cake version. However, I didn't read the fine print and ended up with a pudding mix cake, which the recipe recommends again. Oh well. Not going back to the store so I went for it.

The result was a very cakey cornbread. My house smelled like cake, and the taste was pretty good. Personally, I prefer my cornbread to taste like cornbread, not birthday dessert, but Teen Boy loved it so I'll make it again.
