Day 125: Lemon Custard Cakes

Original Source: Cathie Cooks Food

Every year for Mother's Day and my birthday, My Guy cooks a menu of my choice. I usually take these two days to pick things I don't get often because I'm the only one who eats them. Since I don't like chocolate but the rest of the family does, most desserts in this house (though rare) are skipped by moi for all their cocoa nastiness. Teen Boy, however, enjoys lemon like I do, so I figured I'd be nice and pick something he'd eat, too. My Guy and Teen Girl could just deal with the lemon!!

These were SOOOOO good! I woe having only one birthday a year now because that means I can't eat them often. But then, at least I'm not aging more than once a year, so I guess I'll let the universe keep things as is.

And just look how pretty!! Thank you My Guy for a treat way tastier than birthday cake (yuck.)

Day 109: Two Minute Chocolate Chip Cake

Original Source: English Kitchen

I really like this website and have visited it often for recipes (though the background is annoyingly hard to read through). So when I found this 2 minute treat, I jumped at the chance to try it.

Sadly, it was dry and just... odd. Of course,  I didn't have any ice cream or anything to put on it, which probably would have helped with the dry bit. Still, with some tweaking, I might try it again. Maybe cook it a little less....

Day 37: Cherry Dumpcake

Original Recipe: Cooking with Carrie

I've made dump cakes before, but since I'd never tried cherry, I decided to pull this from Pinterest and give it a go. What's not to love about opening a can and a box, and dumping... then baking. Not a single stir required? If you've never made a dump cake before, you can't screw it up.

One odd thing about this particular recipe: The ingredients called for 1 cup of butter, melted (The way I'm used to) but the directions say to slice the butter instead and cover the cake mix with those squares. Since I'd never tried it that way before, I opted for the sliced butter option. It works just fine. In fact, I found more of the cake was covered with moisture than the usual melt-and-pour method.

Voila. It really is that easy!

Day 10 : Banana Poke Cake

Original Source: The Country Cook

What it's supposed to look like. YUMM-Oh! Am I right?

Find the recipe HERE

Ok, so I'm cheating again. I can't really give a fair review of how this one turned out, because as much as I like to cook, 1) I'm trying to lose weight and 2) I do NOT have much a sweet tooth. Therefore, I didn't try this one. But I will say Teenage Boy devoured it and my guy liked it enough to eat on it for a few nights. So I'm guessing if you like banana desserts, this is one to try!
